What was the top ten things you could not live without (as a new and first-time mom)?
What did you get that you never really needed?
What did you get that you could not really use untill the baby was much older?
I couldn't do without:
1. Swing
2. Lots of batteries for the swing
3. Pads and lots of them
4. Comfy clothes (and panties)
5. Baby monitors
6. Pain meds (for me)
7. Baby pajama gowns (not sure what they're actually called)
8. Those ice pack pads (that the hospital gives you) I asked for extra
9. Pacifiers
10. More pain meds LOL
I never really needed that diaper pail because all it did was annoy me. It didn't work right and I would up just buying a trash pail with a lid which worked just fine.
I got tons of clothes in bigger sizes but I'm not complaining. I also got many diapers in bigger sizes.

1. Breast Pads
2. Vaseline or Diaper Cream
3. Diapers (of course :)
4. receiving blankets- used more often to protect my clothes from my own milk
5. Clothes, socks and blankets for babyEverything else is a luxury IMO
What did you get that you never really needed?
1. Itzbeen baby care timer
2. Diaper Genie (we cloth diaper so this contraption is useless)What did you get that you could not really use until the baby was much older?
1. jolly jumper
2. exersaucer
This is not my first child, however I would pretty much say this applied to my first as well, with the exception of the Itzbeen baby care timer, it would have been handy when I gave my son medicine.
I agree with the first 4 I never needed the others and I would have to add the boppy to the list I love my boppy it was a lot more comfy for feeding time. I wasted a lot of money on the baby gowns because I hated trying to get them on the baby regular pj's were so much easier.

1. my mya wrap... Perfect for cleaning when he wouldnt let me put him down.
2. swiffer wet jet.. made mopping sooo easy.
3. kig sized bed- he wouldnt go into the crib and he's such a bed hog!!! lol
4. little rainforest travel swing- he'd sit in it for hours
5. play pen downstairs.- so i didnt have to run upstairs to change his diaper
6. baby einstein movies- they have an "age recommendation", nut at 2 weeks, i could sit him down there and he'd be quiet for 10 minutes.... meant i could get a shower
7. breast pump
8. HUSBAND- took him when i wanted to strangle him.. however, it could also go under the list of unneccesary items at night..... hehe
9.disposible wash cloths- the ones with the soap already in them. they made bath time so much faster
10. crib toy with light show- when he goes into the crib, he likes to look at the lights
i didnt really get anything that was usless, except the 2 stroller/carseat combos people decided to give me after he was born and i already bought it!!!
but i did go out and buy a baby swing the big type, thats just sitting in my closet now, cuz he was way too little for it at birth..

Hmm I can't think of the top ten things from my first pregnancy but I do know I never used the diaper genie!
I agree. . . don't waste your money on a diaper genie. I just got a trash can with push lid from Target and then got scented trash bags from the grocery store. All together maybe $10. Trash bags for 80 were less than $1.50 vs. the genie refills.
I don't really have a list but here are a few things I did........
I bought clothes on sale or clearance even if they were too big, because I knew they would need themeventually and I saved LOTS of money this way.
I never bought a diaper pail, always just used a trash can with a good lid and it worked SOOO much easier.
I bought TONS of diapers before I actually have a baby, so that I have ONE less expense after the baby comes (You can always exchange them if the baby grows out of them for a diff. size.)
I bought all kinds of baby shoes that have never gotten worn, but never had any of my kids actually wear shoes until at least 9 months.
After having my 2nd baby I stopped using a changing table and just changed my children on the floor. (I know that sounds strange, but it's SOOO much easier because I don't have to lift them up on to the table!!!)
I bought like 4 crib sheets and I'm SO happy that I did, because even if one or two or even three are in the laundry, I don't have to stress about it!!!!
Some people SWEAR by baby swings, but none of my girls have ever liked them at all!!! I'd try a friends before buying one to see if your baby actually likes it first!!
I formula fed my 3rd daughter (because of being premie) and wouldn't make it without baby water. I know it sounds silly to buy water, but you don't have to worry about anything in it or anything and it's only like a dollar a gallon.
Really BIG pads for bleeding, especially if you end up having a c-section!!!! It's gross, but the bleeding can get REALLY bad and get everywhere on your pants without you even knowing it!!
I'm sure I'll think of more and post some more later, I hope some of this helps, I know it's not product related, but I hope some of it helps!!!

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:13-14
Onesies and socks ( all my baby wore)
diapers and wipes
lots of pads
angel care monitor (my baby had bshallow breathing)
blankets
pack n play ( I couldn't climb in bed and slept in the living room for a couple of weeks (c-section)
those baby gowns (my daughter loved them)
bouncer
crib thing that played music and lights up (she still uses this)
comfy clothes for me
didn't use
swing... my daughter hated it, but loved her bouncy seat
Im a first time mommy with a 4 month old son. My top ten are:
1. HIS SWING (life saver!!)
2. Bouncy seat
3. Nursing Tanktops
4. Gentle Vibrations Crib soother
5. LANSINOH wipes, diaper cream, nursing pads ... EVERYTHING LANSINOH (love it!)
6. Pampers Swaddlers Diapers (SO SOFT!)
7. Diaper Genie (small apartment+poopies=ewwie)
8. recieving blankets/burp cloths ... lots of them
9. Nature's Baby Organics (Silky dusting powder) ... excellent for treating/preventing diaper rash!
10. BUTTON UP jumpers (so much easier to change in the middle of the night when you can just unbutton the legs ... no need to undress the whole baby!) :o)
Things I didn't need:
*lots of newborn-3month old clothes: (he grew so fast, hes wearing 9-12 month right now at 4 months) so I had TONS of tiny clothes that he never got to wear!!!
**** I got diapers ... tons .... at my baby shower, but really gift cards for target/walmart etc would have been better, cuz you figure out which brand you like best then the rest you don't want to use.
What was the top ten things you could not live without (as a new and first-time mom)?
1) Swing
2) Baby Bjorn
3) LOTS OF ONSIES AND SLEEPERES
4) Stroller
5) Sound machine
6) Changing Table
7) Bassinet
8) BUrp CLoths

10) Breast feeding cover
