so I asked the doc the other day what I can do to prevent soreness from breastfeeding...my boobs are killing me and they are all chapped up, soar cuz my 2 year old loves to breastfeed but combined with being pregnant the pain is really unbearable..anyways the doc says an old remedy which she swears by is put raw cabbage on your breasts and it helps the tenderness, swelling and all that go away..anyone ever heard of this or try this?? Just thought I'd throw it out there....thanks ;O)

I have heard of it, just cut a hole out for the nipple to poke out of the leaf. I've never tried it but my friends swear by it. Yo could also buy some soothing gel pads that gerber makes.

I have heard of it also. Make sure you don't use the red cabbage it will die your skin.

Cabbage leaves work to help ease engorgement by drawing out the excess milk. It won't do anything for chapping or nipple soreness. If you are using them to ease engorgement, only use for a few minutes at a time, just to take out some of the milk to ease discomfort. Don't let it drain your breasts too much or it will dry you out. Keep using the lanolin, it doesn't work right away but it will help in the long run.
