When do they do the GBS test?

• I am 36 weeks and they did mine when I went in to the dr. this morning.

• They did one @ 30 weeks and will re test me again at 36 weeks why the two test I am not sure. But I was positive for it with my last pregnancy.

  They are probably doing the 2 tests because you were positive last time.

• I asked when I went in yesterday, and they said they'll be doing it next week at my 35 week appointment. With my first pregnancy I had it done at 36 weeks, but I'm with a new doctor this time. I also found out he's going out of town at the end of this month, so let's hope I don't go into early labor!

•  ok now i have a question... whats a group b strep test? i delivered my first child at 29 weeks so i never made it that far... and what do they do?

  They swab the vagina and anus and do a culture to see if you are a carrier for Group B Strep (similar to the strain that causes Strep Throat).  If the culture is positive, they will most likely give you antibiotics before or durring L&D.

  Honestly, its not bad at all.  Just a quick swipe with a cotton swab on the outside.  I find the cervix checks much much worse!
