Let's help some other mom's who might be experiecning some bad morning sickness!

How badly did you have morning sickness?

How did you cope with it?

What is your best remedy and why?

Here are some tips that I have put together for morning sickness:

Eating small meals throughout the day instead of three big ones
Have some crackers or a snack by your bed, so when you get up you can put something in your tunmmy right away
Sliced apples
Slicing lemons (the smell helps some)
Motion sickness bracelets
Ginger- anything with ginger root in it, even ginger ale
Peppermint (even try some peppermint tea)
Vitamin B6
Don't have fluids and meals together
Make sure you are drinking lots of water, you need to stay hydrated or it will make it worse
Eat things high in protein and complex carbs
Don't rush around in the mornings- that can make it worse
Stay away from stress as much as possible
Slurpees, or icees... When it gets really bad they help... and they are not hard on you coming back up.
Think about the flavor of your toothpaste and switch if it is contributing to making you nauseous
Get plenty of sleep
Avoid sugar and fatty foods
Ask your doctor about switching to a prenatal vitamin with a lower amount of iron for your 1st trimester

  • My remedies that I always have been able to use (and I am on baby #3) have always been ginger and mint. Every pregnancy has been less intense for me- my first I was sick up through my 7th month- bad too- multiple time puking each day. I didnt discover the gum til the end of it. My second was like to 16 ish weeks an more just nausea, only puked a few times. Started vernors with this one. I am 17 weeks right now and I have not thrown up once, just had nighttime nausea.

I carried the green "5" gum (it is the strongest I think) with me. Anytime I had a bought of nausea come on I would pop a piece of gum and chew like mad. The mint helped calm my tummy while the chewing distracted me from the feeling. Its discreet too.

I also always carried Vernors pop on hand. This always helped to soothe the nausea too.

I always had a granola bar in my purse too- I found that small little meals if you are feeling crappy help.

  • I had pretty severe nausea with this pregnancy during the beginning. It's starting to return now a little but my doctor told me to try this ginger candy.  It's a chewy candy and the ginger taste is very strong.  I guess it's kind of old-fashioned.  I bought it at an old-fashioned candy store where they sold lots of older candies.  The taste is very strong but he told me that ginger ale or anything else ginger wouldn't work the way this stuff does.  You can get it online if you google "ginger chews".  It worked like a miracle!

I also keep some Zofran on hand just in case!

  • Bananas, oatmeal and grits have been the magic breakfast items this pregnancy. If I start out right, I don't have much of a problem during the day but if I try to start with cereal, I'm nauseous all day. Ginger chews, mints and lemon drops help. It's also important to stay hydrated. I get real nauseous if I don't drink as I should.

  • Sipping through straws helped alot when I was at work, school or someplace I couldnt eat something. I always had my favorite drink or whatever sounded good at the time and would slowly sip it through a straw. Lol choc. milk in the morning was my favorite! But if you can eat, eat something small at first to get somthing in your tummy and then eat a bigger meal when you feel better. An empty stomach makes it ten times worse!

  • I am WAY sick! I hate it! It's driving me crazy! I can't do anything! The things that are helping me are protein smoothies for breakfast (frozen fruit, natural peanut butter, whey protein, yogurt and milk) and icee's. I have been using my blender a ton! Even just crushed ice and water helps! I was sipping ginger ale a lot but the sugar makes it worse.

  • I'm sick all the time! I'm in my 10th week, and all day I feel nausea. I drink ginger Ale, but sometimes it just doesn't cut it. so, I drink ice cold water. Both through a straw, it helps. I've heard a lot of gott things about Prego Pops. I can't even eat much. I want to puke, everytime I thinkof just about any food, especially creamy foods. EEEEwwww. Salads, strawberries, oranges. I'm going to look up those ginger chews...

  • I feel your pain!  The nausea even keeps me awake at night, which makes the morning sickness even worse the next day.
