Toddler bed to twin - no mom! (UPDATE!)

Dd will be 4 in August.  We inherited a twin bed for her, and I'm dying to put it up.  I know she could sleep in it fine with a bedrail, and we have a good one.  My problem is that she is attached to the toddler bed and doesn't want to have a big bed yet.  I want it up because I just love the bed and the quilt and sham I have to go with it.  Even more, I like that I could read to her in bed and crawl up into bed with her like I used to when she slept on a futon on the floor when she was really little.  I guess I'll have to wait...

We did it!  I sort of coaxed her into wanting her big kid's bed today. and she loves it.  We read books in her bed for the first time tonight!  I love that.  Here's a pic.

It was rough to move my daughter into a twin bed. We bought my daughter her own sheets for her bed when we switched her. We let her pick them out and she loved the thought of sleeping with dora every night. :)

My DS was very attatched to his toddler bed also. But since he is a little taller for his age (3 yrs old) than most kids, we had to get him a twin bed. Anyways! We took him over to my parents house to set the bed up, and then put his toddler bed out in the shed for his younger brother to use later on. Out of sight, out of mind! And then ofcourse adding in sheets/blanket from a movie or TV character, etc. that they like makes the change easier also. Good Luck!!!

Maybe you can get her involved in setting it up? Or put it up and leave the toddler bed for now. Use it for naps or for reading just to get her used to it?

My dd will be 4 in a few days and I see no point to hurrying her into a twin bed. Her brother is still in the crib (14months) too.. I also dont see te point in buying a second toddler bed lol.

Good job at the switch though!

I did hurry her, but I don't think there was any harm.  She wasn't sure about her toddler bed at first, either.  As it ends up, she loves this bed, the bedding, reading in bed, and having room on the bed for many stuffed animals.  This is the first time she has ever had a non-fitted sheet to sleep with.  For some reason that is really neat to her.

Thank you!  I lucked into the bedding on clearance at Kohl's and with a discount coupon.

I LOVED being able to climb into bed with my son! Congrats! BTW my son would fall out of that bed lol, his rail covers almost the entire bed. His book shelf covers the top 1.5 feet and the bed rail covers most of the rest!
