I would take him out for a fun time and then have a "family" party or dinner.

If you can find 3 kids to invite, I would do the party.  Heck, if you can only find 2, I'd do the party.  I say 4 because it's often recommended that you have no more kids than the age of the child.  We had a great kid's party for dd last year when she turned three.  We had an "adult" party, too.

yeah i always feel bad for him because its always adults. Last year we got a good tax return so we saved and took him to disney since he got in free but this year we didnt.

We had a little girl who had just turned 2 from down the street - so she was a little young, we had one neighbor boy, and we had a little boy from the babysitter's whom I'd never even met.  We actually invited all of the kids from the babysitter's (trying not to leave anyone out).  This boy's mom is the only one who responded.  It wasn't easy to find the kids.  I know your son is going to have fun whatever you decide to do.  Em wouldn't have missed the party if we had decided not to throw it.

I'd go ahead and invite them.  You never know, they might come.  What about a play-date party at a park if the weather is nice.  Or a pizza party if it isn't nice out.

If it's just your family (no other kids), try the zoo or science center, something special that he doesn't get to go to very often.

Let us know what you decide and post pics after the party!

Shane has daycare friends but none that has been here or him over there. We usually have a family party. He likes that, then I do something special with him.

I would take him somewhere fun if he doesn't really have many friends. You could even invite that one special friend and take him or her with you to make it more special for him.
