My son is about to drive me CRAZY!
He ALWAYS has his hands in his pants.
I know this is a normal thing for a boy.. but when is he going to stop?! When we are just in the house not going anywhere ... I let him wear his underwear (boxer briefs) and a tee shirt, or basketball shorts over his underpants and a tee shirt... but he always has his hands down there! He does it watching tv, walking around...where ever..It seems like he does it with out even thinking about it. When he has jeans on he doesn't do this ... so I'm getting to the point where I might have to make him wear jeans (in the house) until he gets over this phase. His dad and I will both tell him get your hands out of your pants!! And he'll just say ... OH!! and take them out... So I'm thinking he does it with out even thinking about it. Every time I catch him we make him go wash his hands.... The other day he came up to me to do something ... and his little hands smelled just like ... BUTT! I even told him his hands smelled like his butt! GROSS! So instead of just washing his hands he got put in the bathtub ..
Anyway... He realized he had a penis all the way back when he was 2 yrs old! He played with it sometimes, and then stopped ... All the way up until now.
How long is he going to carry this on for?? It's like a thorn in my side to always look over at him and he has his hands down there..
How long did your boys do it for?
He's going to be 5 in May btw.

My boys haven't done this yet, but they are 3 and 4 so they may start, who knows! I don't have any advice, but here is a bump.
My son did this exact same thing when he was smaller. Used to drive me crazy. He would tell me he had to position it up (imagine that). He's 15 now but if I can remember correctly he was about 7 when he finally stopped. Just have patience and I promise he will stop. Good luck.
I don't have a boy however I have nephews. They used to do this when their underware were too big. What would happen is the fabric would rub on their penis and it would give them a sensation therefore tempting them to play with it. When my sisters got underware that were not so lose (more fitting) the boys stopped playing in their pants. Just a suggestion, other than that I've got nothin.
My DD does this. OOOOOMG she will come up to me and touch my face or something and I can smell... UGH. I'm like "Becca your hands smell NASTY!!! Go wash your hands, keep them out of your butt!!" which of course then she's like "how did you know??" lol. it drives me absolutely crazy as well. I have NO idea how to stop it... but... hopefully someone will have a "cure" lol
my son is 2 1/2 & does the same thing. drives me nuts, especially since he isn't potty trained yet & will often "repostition" his penis enough in the diaper so the pee doesn't stay in the diaper. i try not to make a fuss about it when he does it as i know it only makes him want to do it more. i try to distract him & get him interested in something else. i'll tell him it's ok to touch his penis when he's in the bath but when he has a diaper & clothes on he shouldn't touch it. i'm hoping his interest in it will wean as hegets older. though i know men never loose interest in their penis's! ;o) lol
i dont think it will ever stop......
my 3 year old does this, but i dont make a big deal out of it unless we are in public and then i just remind him to keep his hands out of his pants...

LMAO! This just made me laugh! My dd sticks her hand in her diaper too, usually when she's watching t.v. It;s as if she doesn't even realize she's doing it. Hopefully this will pass soon :)
OMG you are SOSOSOSO not alone in this. I have a 5 year old and I bet I said that at least 15 times already today. His hands are always down his pants, front and back. Its like he is doing it because its like pockets. IDK, all I do know is its gross. We have butt hands too and I wont let Shane touch anything until he washes. We go through so much soap! I know EXACTLY how you feel, and I do mean exactly. I told Curtis just last night that Shane smells like butt all the time. Its so terrible to say that but he does, and I can say it 15 million times a day and it does no good. Its like he doesnt even know he is doing it!
