Any tips on how to get him to overcome his fear of going #2 in the potty?

Where does he go now? In a pull up or his underwear? Can you have him help you dump it in the toilet and flush it down to show him it's not scary? Many times this is a control issue. The child does not want to give up control of their bowels and it's scary for them.

Less water in the toilet, to prevent splashback.  Kids hate that even more than we do.

I once knew a kid who was in underwear, but would beg for the diaper when she had to poop.  Then she'd sit on the toilet and poop into the diaper.  Her mom cut a hole in the diaper.  It didn't work, but it's a fun story.

I have the same problem. We have tried laxatives but they haven't worked yet.
