So today I started to really potty trainning my son and so far its been very frustrating and stressing. I decided to keep him all day in his underwear and bring him to the bathroom every 45min. And every time I bring him to the bathroom he refuses to go even if he has to go. One time right after I took him down from the potty he went to pee on the floor. I heard if they pee on the floor that they should clean it up so they know what they did was wrong. Is this true? I just caught him going poppy in his underwear too thank god I was right in front of him and I quickly took him to the bathroom and I told him you go poppy in the bathroom. He finishes going in the potty and I gave him 2 stickers. What does everybody use to clean your child butt?Do you use toilet paper, wipes, or a special potty training wipes that you can flush(seen them at the store)? I plan to be persistent and im going to put him in the potty every 45min. At night I plan to not give him anything to drink an hour before he goes to bed to prevent him peeing on his bed. Lets see how that works out. I plan on buying a waterproof pad to put on his bed just incase he has an accident he wont get his blankets and mattress wet

1 mom liked this

I'm doing the exact same with my ds, who's the same age. I would not make him clean his own mess because really... you're just going to have to do it anyway and it'll just take far too much time. And I use the regular baby wipes that we've always bought from Costco the Kirkland brand, but you can NOT flush them, we just line our bathroom trash can with the extra Walmart bags we always seem to have a plethora of and swap them out often.

He just might not be ready.  And as for wetting the bed--trust me, no amount of training will fix that because it's all biological.  I wouldn't even begin to worry about peeing at night, keep diapers/pullups on hand for bedtime, but make sure your son knows they are only for bedtime (I have to keep mine in the closet on a high shelf).  I wet the bed for a long time and my almost 7yo still wears pullups at night because he has the occasional accident, but even until after he turned 5 he would be wet most nights.  Some kids do stay dry early on, but not always.

Good luck to you.  I'm potty training my son, who just turned 3.  It's very difficult.  We tried earlier, with no success, but it has to work this time.  You sound alot like me though.  He refuses to go on the potty but doesn't mind going in the floor or on his clothes.  Very frustrating!

I dont think hes ready either. I dont understand how some mothers can decide one day "my son is not using diapers no more" and that same day they get them to be potty trained. Is like how do they do that. and the kids are usually only 1-2 yrs old

It is very difficult. I give it to all the mothers who potty trained their kid at the age 1-3 because I just dont know how they did it. my son refuses to go to the potty. He even says no pepee and poppy in the potty. Im like yes you have to your a big boy now. But he just says no

My oldest was 3.5 before I got him potty trained.  He would fuss and cry and go limp.  It was horrible!  The only thing that got him to poop on the potty was to get him flushable wipes.

My middle son is 3.5 and much like his brother is proving to be rather against potty training.  But instead of going limp like a noodle, this kid stiffens up his whole body and won't budge!  Aaah!!

The waterproof mattress protector is a good idea, we have one on every bed in the house.  It not only protects from bedtime accidents but anything else that could ruin your mattress, such as sweat or spilled drinks.    We use flushable wipes, I buy them in bulk from diapers.com to save a bit of money.

i did the bare bottom method with my son and just had his potty chair with us in the room we were in. He picked up on it quick. good luck!
