My soon to be 4 year old has really really thin fine hair. I have never cut it its really short for hair that has never been cut. Do you think if we cut her hair to even it out and give he some vitamins it will help? Her sister who is almost 2 hair is really thick just like mine and is longer than her big sisters. ( DH has thin hair) I will talk to he doctor about it at her 4 year old well baby check up.

i don't know exactly if this will help. i had thin hair as a child, i still do. don't stress the hair more by pulling it tightly into ponytails. if you put her hair up just do it loosely so the hair doesn't pull out.

i am having the exact opposite of your problem. DS has extremely thick coarse hair and hes got dandruff because the shampoo wont wash out all the way.

DD has the same problem. She's 3 and I feel like it's never growing. It's starting to get there but it's still pretty thin, just like mine. But here's a bump.

Hey,

i would definitely mention it at her checkup, but chances are its totally normal.  I would try to get her to eat/drink more protein if you can and wash her hair with something more than baby shampoo.  You want to be sure her heair is as healthy as possible :).

Good luck :)

You should give the Johnson's baby shampoo for thick hair (has extra conditioners) that may help wtih the dandruff.  Also, washing his hair in Selsum Blue is ok once or twice a week :).  You may want to use fresh water (not cupped out of the bathtub) when rinsing.

My son has the same problem LOL.  We actually moved him to Pantene ProV becuase his hair was geting so wacky.  We also have to keep it rather short.

My dd who is 4 is exactly the same....we trimmed it and it made a difference. Nothing drastic I think she just has thin hair and there's nothing you can really do about it.

Johnson's is not working. we tried the thick hair one. i have started using my shampoo which is herbal Essenes and when i took him to the Dr on Friday they said its OK to use nizoral once a week or t gel 2-3 times a week. he has such thick and coarse hair and it grows in every direction you can think of. we keep it short. i feel horrible because when i looked at his hair it was matter down and started growing into his scalp and the dandruff was already covering it. when i combed it to try and get it out before i washed it a chunk came out and gave him a bald spot that can thankfully be covered by his hair.

Oh wow.  Have you spoken to his doctor about this?  It sounds like a case of "cradle cap" but for older kids (I forget the name). Sorry he has to go through this :/  My son had it really bad when he was an infant, but he had NO hair back then.  Leo (my 3 month old) now has it too :/.  It stinks.

yes, we just visited his ped on Friday for a cough that would not go away and i showed him DS's scalp and he suggested nizoral or tgel. my sister and i suffer seborrhea and i remember when i was 10 or 12 it was so bad it was going down to my forehead and i had nizoral as a prescription back than. you can just buy it off the shelves now but i chose to go with tgel, which is on recall so i have to get the nizoral. i feel horrible about it because its really bothering him. he thinks he has "bad hair" and wont let me comb it anymore. it really helps when he takes a shower because the water hits it harder than if i wash it in the tub with a cup.
