Car seat question. Update..

Okay so my son is in a toddler carseat. He goes to preschool 1 afternoon a week and I Bring him.. But I decided to switch him to mornings which means his dad would need to drop him off. We only have 1 carseat so Im thinking we need another one. I'm wondering if I should just get a booster seat with a back. His school is only a 10 min drive from our house.. But DS is only 27 lbs and 3 feet tall.. I'm just looking for opinions to help me make a decision. Thanks.

Update: when I said booster I meant the toddler carseat that turns into a booster. I should have been more clear. Thanks for everyone's advice.i don't want anyone to think I'm the kind of mother who would risk my child's life for a cheaper seat.

How old is he. There is no booster suitable for a child that small. Maybe a cosco scenera would work

I wouldn't booster a 3 year old personally. there are lots of seats that would work. you could look at the Evenflo Maestro. It has a taller shell than most and will harness and also makes a good booster for most kids when they are old enough.

You can't get him a booster seat yet. For the second carseat, get him a Costco Scenera. It's $55.

Pretty sure in most states kids gave to be 35 to be in a booster.

I would never put my 27lb child on a booster seat. It will not properly hold a child of that size in even a fender bender. My friend got rear ended and had her 32lb child on a booster, he slipped out of the seatbelt and landed on the floor. Luckly he didn't get hurt but it just shows even getting rearended at 25 MPH can cause a properly buckled in child to get thrown off of a seat.

Nope.  He's nowhere near big enough for a booster.  Try an Evenflo Maestro. It's a harness to booster seat that fits most kids pretty well and is relatively inexpensive.  Your DS would probably fit in a Scenera, but it wouldn't last very long.  The Maestro is also really easy to install.

It wouldnt be legal for you to put him into a booster seat just yet.  He would have to go into a five point harness.

Hey,
i would consider getting a second seat, even if its not the most expensive one on the market.  I don't think a booster seat is going to do it for your LO, as he's too small...just whatever you, make sure you follow the instructions on the carseats to the T :)

Good luck :)
