Play grocery store with items from your pantry!
Set up the items in “aisles,” give the kids baskets or shopping bags (laundry baskets or pillow cases will do!), and let them go shopping! You can set up a checkout counter with a calculator “cash register” and let them check out with bags or pillowcases. This is also a great learning opportunity: new vocabulary words, counting money, buying and selling, etc. So what are you waiting for? Go have some shopping fun!
Do your kids love to play grocery store? Do you have a fake “checkout” counter? (Did you always want a cash register as a kid like I did?!)

We don't have a register, but I like the calculator idea.
I used to play grocery store with my friends all the time when we were little. Our parents would save boxes from food after it was gone, and we used that with our toy food.
