So I have a 4 year old girl who will be 5 in July. She has just finished antibiotics for a suposed sinus infection which has her having a crazy cough for 3 months. Well today she tells me her privates hurt and it hurts to go potty. So I looked and they are pretty red so I run a bath and have her soak for a while and put a and d on it. Then later she's still scratching and telling me it hurts. I called the nurse advisor line and set up an appointment in the morning for a possible yeast infection for her. Poor little girl! Has anyone else experienced this with their children? I don't know what to expect at this appointment. And we will be addressing this sinus infection junk and see what's really going on with a 3 month cough that's not getting better.

Antibiotics can cause a yeast infection. My Gramma always has me soak in a baking soda bath when I get them (i have got them from iv antibiotics in the hospital) make an appointment with her dr I know they have prescription creams for yeast infections in little girls (my god daughter had one)

She could have bronchitis? The itching and redness down under is probably a yeast infection from the antibiotics. You could get her some monastat cream to help with the itching. Maybe let her soak I'm a vinegar bath. And get some yogurt. I hope this helps. I am sorry she's not doing so well. I hope it all clears up soon.

Same with my mom: the baking soda bath.

The dr MIGHT do an exam. Or they might just give you like cannestin or something like that for her. You can get over the counter cream for it, but id wait for the actual 'ok' from the dr about the medication.

Ps. Most antibiotics causes a yeast infextion for me. Keep a note of the name of the pills to avoid it in the future with her.

The only time I have ever had a yeast infection was when I was on antibiotics. So that's my guess on that one. With the cough, when my son was about 3 he had a cough that lasted for 3 months. He had X-rays, inhalers, different meds and nothing worked. We were thinking it was caused by our pellet stove or allergies. Then we went away on vacation around month 2 of the coughing and after 2 1/2 weeks away from the house he was still coughing. Then one day, after all the worrying and stuff we tried, it stopped. Just like that. No explanation, that was it. So hopefully what your daughter has isn't anything big. Good luck with it all. It's so stressful when your kid is sick and there isn't much you can do for them.

Hello ZoesMom, I cannot explain the cough for the last 3 months, but there are some antibiotics that will make the urine discolored and may make it uncomfortable for her. A doctors appt is a very very good idea. There is not any way for a mother to prepare theirself for going to a doctors appt with their kid when they do not know what is going on. Wish I had more advise for you on that. I hope everything goes well for you! Personally, I think that it more than likely is just a reaction to the antibiotics.

my daughter battled all kinds of viruses and junk including the cough that never went away. we finally got her adnoids and tonsils out and she has been 100% better since and doesnt get sick anymore like she used to. it started right after she turned 2.. the flu, pnemonia, bronciolitis, colds, ear infections, .. then we get that all clear and there is fluid in her ears that wouldnt go away and causing caughing- dr said it wasnt an infection it was just extra fluid that couldnt drain.. from being sick the adnoids got enlarged and never had a chance to go back down before getting sick again so they ended up blocking part of the drainage route. they took them out and like day and night! good luck!
