Personally, I would just throw them away and deal with the tantrums. It will take.him less than 3 days to forget about it, but will benefit his chompers greatly :)

Take it away, cold turkey. Both my kids were off of bottles at 12 months. Hand him a sippy and walk away... it's called tough love. He'll be fine.

I started my son on a sippy at 6m with water/juice. Only thing he ever got in a bottle was milk. Soon as he turned 1 and went to reg milk, bottles went away. He never missed them cuz he was used to the cup already. Try giving him the cup first, then if he wont finish, pour the rest to the bottle. How my friend did it and it took less than a wk to throw the bottles away.

Throw bottles iin trash don't look back. Give him a sippy. Trust me he won't die of thirst. Might cry and whine a few days but eventually will drink from it. Try straw cups a lot of kids like those or an open cup.

I can imagine if u keep bottles around it will be very diff to ever break of the bottle. U gotta get them out of the house so you won't cave.

i took the bottles away at 14 months.  i got sick of cleaning all the parts so i packed them up and she moved to a sippy.  no transition problems at all.  if you are done then take them away.  if they aren't an option he'll settle for something else.  i think parents tend to assume things like this will be way worse then they end up being.  kids are adaptable when left with little options.  good luck!

It will take three days and it will suck but you can do it. They will cry and scream but you will be strong! And remember, no one died from not having milk for three days. Just offer straw sippy/reg sippy/cup (I recommend straw sippy's made by thermos) of milk when it's time for milk. They'll push it away, say no, scream for their bottle but you will not cave in. You can do this!

I agree with the others; it'll only be about 3 days of crabbiness.  Positive praises for being a big kid with a sippy cup.

google the farmers almanac method. My friend is one of seven kids and her mom swore by it and all 7 used it on their 3 kids each. I tried with ds and worked great, theres a window of time each month to wean in. Our son showed no interest in the sippy at all, then at 13 months we put him down for bed and when he got up he didnt ever have a bottle again, so I like it too.
