How long did your children drink from a bottle?

My son is 2 1/2 years old and still LOVES his bottle. I tried several times to get him to stop, but he loves it. He likes to drink from it while he falls asleep and sometimes as a nurturing "device". I breast fed him for the first 6 months, then I started to work again, and DH or my MIL would give him the bottle.  So, I am just wondering when everyone else children stopped drinking from the baba. btw, he only drinks milk or chocolate milk from it. Not juices.

About 12 months. Have you tried getting a special sippy cut with a character he loves on it and make that his "special cup"  I never had a problem with my kids giving up the bottle so I don't have a lot of advice. Sorry. Good Luck!

He has no problem drinking out of regular cups or straws during the day. He doesnt use sippy cups anymore. It is just at bedtime he wants a baba...

No, just plain water. I only give me daughter water after she brushes her teeth. She had all her teeth by 12 months. You don't want to give jc or milk at night b/c of it pocketing in between the gum and teeth. It can cause cavities and the teeth to rot... There is more sugar in milk than jc. Anyways, during the day I would put 1/2 jc and 1/2 water in a NUK sports cup or whole milk. I would just put plain water in a baby bottle. It only took a week or two for her to give up her bottle, go to the NUK cups, and then regular sippy cups.

So you think it would be bad to put watered down milk in the bottle to make him not like it so much anymore? I think that is kind of mean.... I dont want him to get sick. What do you think?

Quoting LML1:

Have you tried just putting water in the bottles? Nuk has a sports bottle that looks like babies bottle. I transitioned to that at 12 months, I put milk and jc in them. At 14 months I started sippy cups and my dd is 2 and still uses them.
