My son turned 3, but he is above average for height and weight. He is at a healthy weight but most of it is his height. He is taller than most 4 year olds. He looks like he is 5. I don't know whether to put him in a booster seat already. Please help. I've gone online and asked but there isn't much help. Everytime I put him in his seat, he says oohh, mom my neck. Its at its highest. What should I do?

I don't buy it either. Not do I understand how any parent can think a three year old is safer in a booster seat, with seatbelts designed for adults.

He's too young. Children should be at least four before riding in a booster and seatbelt. His little bones aren't ready.

My kids' doctor told me to put my oldest dd in a booster once she outgrew the convertible seat, even though she wasn't at 40 lbs yet. He said it was safer to be in a seat that was the right height even though she was a couple pounds under the weight limit than it is to be in a seat that she's too tall for.

I hope you didn't listen to someone who has no idea about car safety.

3 year olds are not recommended to be in booster seats. The BARE minimum reccommended is 4 years of age and at least 40 lbs, but safety experts say ideally a child should be in a booster until closer to age 6.

How is he fitting into his current seat? What is his weight and the Weight limit of his current seat? Where are his shoulders in relation to the top slots of his seat?
