I am so embarassed: my child mooned the neighborhood!

So, my 3 year old was getting dressed after swimming this afternoon. I thought she knew where I was (I was in her sister's room helping her sister) but instead of looking for me inside when she needed help, she decided to look for me outside. I guess because we had just been out there swimming she somehow thought I was still out there?!? Anyway, I thought I heard the door close, but I figured she had gotten dressed without me and was just letting the dog in or something. I go to check and I discover her outside WITH NO BOTTOMS ON! She was walking around our yard with a BARE BOTTOM looking for me. This was SO embarrassing. I feel terrible that she managed to get out looking like that. I told a close friend about it and she just thought it was funny. Maybe someday I'll think it is, but right now it makes me wanna cry it's that emabarrassing. I am praying that by some luck none of the neighbors saw her. I know 3 year olds don't have much modesty, but this kid needs some common sense!!! We had a very serious talk about it after I got some clothes on her. I guess this has shown me that it really is important to teach kids about modesty. We will be talking about it a lot more starting now. Does anyone else happen to have a similar story so I know I'm not the only one something like this has ever happened to? :-(

EDIT- To anyone who was concerned about her being out there with the pool, it was a wading pool and I always dump it out as soon as we're done with it, so there was no drowning danger. The fact that she got out alone did shake me up and I think that's a big reason why I was so upset at first. She has never gone outside like that without me before but now I have been reinforcing the rule that she does not go out alone!

My 10 year old escaped the house naked so many times (at 2yo) our neighbors started calling her Ethel!! (Ray Stevens) My 2yo now does the same thing, we go outside for a second and she comes running out of the house with no bottoms!! She started 7 months ago running around bottomless due to potty training, but she still takes her bottoms off to go potty and then doesn't want to put the back on!! It's a phase, just show them you don't accept it and make them go inside promptly and get bottoms on!

When I was a teen, our church had an all nighter for the youth group. We were sitting in the movie theater they rented out (over 100 students) and the pastor's 5 year old decided to show us all his tattoo. His tattoo happened to be on his lower back, and he happened to pull his pants a little too far down...mooned the whole youth group!

So be glad only the neighbors could have seen, lol. I'd be embarrassed too if it were my kid, but it is pretty funny.

I would be more worrief about the fact that your 3 year old manage to go outside alone (with a pool in the vicinity none the less) Being naked isn't a big deal or embarrassing.

Lol. My oldest 2 are 4 and almost 6 and both in physical therapy. We were at the therapists house swimming monday. When we were done we went inside and I sent Ds into the bathroom to change. A minute later he comes running out fully naked because he had to tell us something lol. So, everybody saw all of him. None of my kids have any idea what modesty is lol

She is 3, it's not a big deal to her right now, yes keep up with the "we don't show everyone our bums" etc but there was a study that children don't form modesty until school age nor do they differentiate gender until then either.... I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about nor worry about she's little just inforce the good behavior with things like "those pants/shorts/skirt look very pretty on you" so she'll want to keep them on

My daughter used to run outside naked from head to toe...still will occasionally and she's 4. It became the neighborhood joke for awhile. She would stand in the middle of the yard and dance and sing " I'm having a naked party!"
