It was fun. Ds is 4. There are only three kids in the class. He had a great time. He isn't afraid of the water so he jumped right in. He already learned to hold his breath and go under to grab a ring. So freaking scary for me lol

Anyone else doing swim lessons?

we tried when she was 18 months and she got the nickname "Velcro", so we stopped them but I will probably do them next year for both of them.  They have swimmers on and LOVE the water though.

Mine has been doing swim lessons for just over a year now. Loves them.  the first day, they taught them to climb out of the pool (elbow, elbow, stomach, knee, knee).  I heard her repeating that every time she climbed up on something for months.  LOL  She LOVES the water as well and will just run over to the pool - terrifies me since she doesn't yet go in by herself.  She can float (assisted still) on her back and stomach and has even begun to switch from back to stomach and back again.  She gets the rings under the water and blows bubbles.  They're just too cute at this age.

Aw, what a big boy! I want to get my girls into swim lessons but my youngest has a phobia about water on her face. We're not exactly sure when that started because she's always been the first to get wet. I'm hoping if we do lessons, she'll learn that water is nothing to be afraid of.

Did your son have any weird things with water before you started lessons?

1 mom liked this
Not really except in the shower/bath. He hates having his hair washed. He took a session last summer but I did not think he learned anything from it. He was only 3. Didn't pay attention. I didn't see the point in paying the money for more sessions last summer. But apparently, according to the instructor he does know water safety and he is not afraid (compared to the other kids in his class)

He screams bloody murder if I try to wash his hair without discussing it with him first. He hates having water poured over his head. I have tried lots of tricks and nothing works. He acts completely terrified. But in the pool he is a little fish. Loves to jump in Loves going under. I think he is at the perfect age. He is paying attention he is learning. Nothing like last year. I'm definitly paying to have him do the next two sessions this summer.

I am actually going to talk to someone about swim lessons tomorrow for my DD (3) =).. Do they make them go under water in the first class? My dd freaks out when she goes under water- I try to show her how to hold her breath but won't try..

Sounds like I could have written your post!  My 4 year old son just started too and is so fearless!  Great job Mama!
