She has been so whiney the last couple days, she cries everytime I tell her no about something, she doesn't listen, she does what SHE wants.... I've lost total control of her... she moves the chair to wherever she can get to stuff I put away from her, I don't know what to do!

Time outs and redirection are what works on my 17 month old when he does this. I find he acts up when he needs extra attention. I just forget about cleaning, bill pay, anything else to give him my undivided attention. We play, color, dance, whatever! If he misbehaves (hits me or the dog, throws at me or the dog) he gets a short time out, says sorry, and we go back to playing.
She may be catching something or just need a little extra attention. Hopefully she gets back to her normal self soon so you don't end up bald! :p

Is that still around?  I need them too for my 3 year old.  she doesn't listen and hasn't since she turned 2.  Throws tantrums for little things and time outs DO NOT WORK!!!!!

Hello Cassiekitty7,

From what I understand, I think their still around. I'm sorry that you are having a hard time with your 2 year-old daughter and 3 year-old son. I too have a 2 year old son who can be extremely overwhelming sometimes, and when it gets too be too much, I take him outside for a walk. I don't know what it is, but it seems to work. When he comes back in he's burned off energy plus much easier to manage. Which makes my life LESS STRESSFUL...Atlhough I am not a child or parenting expert, here are some things you can try when the going gets ruff:

  1. Be consistent: with your timeouts and your instructions/directions
  2. Put her stuff where she cannot reach or somewhere she cannot gain access to them
  3. Reward/Praise her when she listens to you
  4. Whatever you do, do give in. Stand your ground!

I hope this helps, you can also join the group parenting advice...I'm sure they have some great tips for you there! Good luck, and have faith. It will get BETTER!!!!!!fingers crossed

Grin and bear it!  I have 2 y/o twin boys and they totally take turns doing the same thing.  It's a phase, stay calm and stay consistent.

yep mine is the same way, locks on cabinets with harmful materials, closed doors, baby gates and timeouts.
