Ok, so give me some ideas to do with a 2-ish year old inside or outside to entertain. I have those friends who are going to every place every weekend (I get it pool and zoo), but I am not that parent. Just looking for a few ideas. Chicago area.

We did the zoo, it was soooo hot, the animals were not even out and my toddler just wanted to push his own stroller.

Why do you need activities?

Today, we had breakfast, he toddled around and played while I had coffee. A few hours after he woke up we took a walk, met a dog, played with a neighbor kid, then had lunch. After lunch was nap.

After nap was playtime and more walks. We went to the store, then went home and ate dinner, watched more Thomas took a bath, cuddled and went to bed.

we do special things during thew week but mostly that's it.

I have friends who it seems are always going to some attraction - especially on the weekends.

I think toddlers should learn to play by themselves. Get some Leggos and turn him/her loose with them. They also like to take out all the pots and pans and Tupperware. And don't feel bad about leaving the tv on. There are many good programs for little ones and you'd be surprised at what they learn, especially from programs like Sesame Street.

Sounds like a perfectly normal day to me its similar to what i spend my day doing with my son.  No need to have everything planned and activities all the time just relax and enjoy each moment.

I'm that mom lol that has something planned every weekend and who's kids are probably over scheduled lol But we love doing stuff, we have a nature center near our home which always has activities going on and if you buy a family membership $100 dollars for the year there is always an activity during the week like story time and craft time for 2 hours, then on the weekends it's pet the animals and trail walks as well as holiday crafts. My kids are now learning to play soccer so that is another two hours on the weekend. There is also a group of kids that meet at the local play ground to play and the moms can chat it up. I think if you really want to do things like that you should pick up your local newspaper or go to your cities website for event that are going on during the month. We also look at the bulletin board at the library when we got to drop off and pick up books, there is always a ton of flyers for events.

Your 2-year old is a lot like mine.  I didn't have a ton of things up my sleeve either, and it didn't help that i work full time either :/.

So, I made the most of it :).  I did things at home, local parks, etc.  Caden was totally happy playing at the nearby park everyday, so be it :) . We'd also make cupcakes together, read together, go to teh library, etc.

Those times mean the most, doesn't mean you have to pay an arm and a leg for it!
