Dj's first day at montessori and questions for other mommies
He had a good first day at his Montessori school. i do not know if every Montessori school has this but his school has him enrolled in a Spanish class call "los anos verdes" i love the fact they have him learning a second language i think that will help him in the long run. he made a cute little art project about winter its a little snowman and evergreen picture.
the only thing i dont like is one mother who was standing near the front desk. i was talking with the principal about dj's celiac disease and milk allergy as well as him being vax free. this lady follows me out to the parking lot saying that if her kids get sick she knows whom to blame. if he is so sickly why dont i keep him home and why did i feel the need to endanger the other childrens lives by not having my children receive the vaccines.
my questions for you are
1. how would you of handled this bat shit crazy lady
2. would you address the principal about her
3. have you had any experience with Montessori
I went to Montessori as did my son and now my daughter. I grew up with French as the second language and my kids are learning French as well. It's amazing to start them young so that's great that your school offers that. I would ignore mrs. Bat shit but I would bring it up to the principal in case you have trouble with her down the road. That way there will be a note that this lady is insane. Good luck.
wow. my kids are not vaccinated either. honestly i would have just ignored her and walked away, i'm not up for confrontation though. And I don't think I would say anything to the principal unless something else happens.
No experience with montessori.
There is really nothing the principal can/will do. You were obviously speaking loud enough for the woman to overhear, so next time know to have the conversation privately. The vaccination debate is VERY heated and this probably will not be the last time that someone will say something to you about it. As far as Montessori, I personally am NOT a fan of this approach, but I know that for some kids it works wonders. Also, just because the school "claims" it's a Montessori, doesn't mean it's run the same as the one down the street. All schools are different and you just have to decide if it works for you and your child.
1. Don't "handle" it. Don't stoop to her level unless it becomes bigger than that comment.
2. Not yet. Again, not unless its a bigger issue.
3. I have and my son LOVED it. He did it for preschool and I think he learned quite a bit from it. Our household is built around Montessori principles (by accident) and it works out quite well :) :)
I honestly wouldn't know how to handle this lady, sorry, I vax so I wouldn't know what to say. So I don't know if I would talk to the principal about her or not, I suppose if she keeps going on to you about this stuff I would. And lastly, I have heard of a couple things about this school. My son doesn't go there, so keep in mind this is what people tell me. I have my neighbor across the street that sends her son their for the after school program, and she LOVES it. She tells me how awesome it is there and how they have a good set or rules and "chores" for the kids to do. She really likes it. This other person I talked to, is in a class with my at my college. She had told me earlier in the year that her mother works for the school. Later on in the year she was telling me about how her mom got fired (Didn't want to tell me the name of the school she works for, I guess she forgot she already told me) and that her mom got fired because she was left to watch some kids by herself, and left them alone so she could go to the bathroom and take a short break. So she got fired. I personally do not know if they are good or not, the one near us is like 15 minutes away in the opposite direction of my school so I don't take my son there. I hope you have a good time there, don't let one bat shit crazy lady ruin your experience, you will meet them where ever you go.
we were in her office she had the door cracked to let in some heat. her office is right next to the front desk

2. Just drop it.
3. A little. My friends all sent their kids to Montissori but all Montissori schools aren't created equal. Like, I don't think that teaching a 2nd language has anything to do with it. I doubt the school is true Montissori. Not that it isn't cool, it is. My kids had Spanish from kinder on from their private school.
