Money and Time Saving Tips for Disney world vacation
Dear Moms:
Next month my daughter will be 5 and since she is apsolutely my daughter from dreams, she deserves to have her birthday dream come true, which is Disney world. My budget is about $2000 for a 4 day stay in Orlando. My 3 year old son and husband will also join us, but they will mostly visit Sea World and anything else animal related. Am I realistic that would be enough?
If you've been to Disneyworld with your little ones, do you have tips to share:
1) How to save money? For example, I was told that no way, one can save on park tickets, but better hotel deals can be done best through Costco, Sam Clubs and similar. Or, that if one takes a risk, one can buy discounted tickets inside the Park. (Risk meaning that some are fake?!) That Park Hooper is a good way to go, and bringing own food and snacks smart and allowed. Anything else?
2) How to save time to do the most in 3 days? What is a must see, must get, and what has been a big waste of your time?
3) What are your recommendation on hotel stays - inside Disney or outside? I am not looking for something fancy, but it has to be clean, and ideally offers breakfast (which I know may be rare.)
THANK YOU!
I went to Disney with my dh about 7 heyars ago. I would also like to hear what everyone has to say ebcause we are also planning a trip to Disney for the end of this year.
Have you signed up for the mousesavers.com newsletter? It's sent via email on the 15th of the month. They highlight special offers from Disney and surrounding hotels. They like undercover tourist as a discount ticket broker. I don't know about Sams, but our Costco doesn't offer Disney tickets, only Universal.
When we went this past September, we bought tickers from a broker in CoCoa Beach since we were there 2 days prior to going to Disney.
If you're not going to do multiple parks per day, then don't spring for the park hopper. It's my understanding, you can use the same ticket for the same day at the same park if you need to leave for naptime etc.
Charecter meals are a bit pricey. My husband and I spent over $70 for BREAKFAST as Chef Mickey's buffet. My son was under 3, so he was free. You are allowed to bring food and drink into the parks. To be honest, the park food wasn't really that good. If you stay at a Disney resort, sometimes you can get a free Disney Dining Plan with your stay. It just depends on what deals they're running at the time you book. Most of the Disney resorts have dining which offers breakfast lunch and dinner. We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. It was a moderate resort. The room was nice and clean. We had friends who've stayed at a value resort and they liked it, but I can't speak personally to that. .If you're staying at a Disney resort, you can use their transportation back and forth to the parks too. My son LOVED riding the "Dinney" bus.
For the 3 days we were in Orlando, we did Dea World, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywoodl Studios. The only thing my son got out of Hollywood Studios was Mater and Lightening McQueen.
If your kids just have to have the animals and shirts, there's a Wal Mart close to the Disney property that sells a lot of those things.

We're going for the first time in October.
I recommend saving money each week. That's what we're doing.
