I think if they are past the point of falling out of bed, it should be fine. Besides, most bunk beds are all made with the railing down the side of the top bunk anyway.

We got my daughter her loft bed when she was 6. She did well with it. We are just starting to let my 3 year old climb up and down it when we can watch her

I have a 9 year old, 5 year old and 2 year old. My 2 year old knows not to go up on the top. Yes she has tried and we set rules and let her know it is not ok. They are not to young at all.

Annoying to make yes...my DH like to make things crazy strong, so they are built a little too well... If you get my drift...we used 2x4s because we had them left over from another project....I'd guess all three were around $800 when all was said and done!

My oldest sons have been in bunk beds since they were 3 and 4. Thats because we had space issues and had 4 kids in one room.

My kids have had them for a year thy are 5&7. No problem just fights over who's on top. Most nights they are both on the top bunk.
