Getting rid of the paci. Edit(final update)

Well I have to admit I did cave in a little. We tried the hole in the paci but it didn't work very well. My fiancé caved n gave him his real paci when he couldn't take the crying. My son started falling asleep at night without his paci. So today I threw the pacifiers away and he will just have to cry it out. I distracted him by reading him some books. I played with him and when it came down to nap time he fought it so bad I had to ignore his cries because he just wouldn't stop. After a little while he finally stopped crying and started watching tv a few minutes later he crashed out. It's gunna be a hectic week but now that I got rid of the pacifiers I won't be able to cave in. I hope he does better the next few days.

Edit:
Thanks everyone my son final forgot about his pacifier ! He's even talking more now he's learned a bunch o new words . I found that putting on hurcules for him at bedtime works like a charm :) he loves that movie

I think you did the best thing. I did the same. He cried for 3 nights and that was it. I think keeping them busy and getting them tired really works during these days while they adjust. Good luck!
