He peepee's fine on the potty but fights pooping on the potty

My 3.5 closer to 4 year old fights pooping on the potty. I don't know what to do. He fights pooping in his diaper too so I think it's the pooping he is afraid of not where he is pooping. What can we do? I feel so bad for him but I don't know how to help him.

My toddler used to poop in the potty but not pee.  Then he started to pee and not poop.  When he had to poop he would run into the dining room and stand behind the curtain to poop in his pants.  I think they all go through that stage.  Don't know why.  My friend said her nephew wanted privacy to poop, which I think my toddler was trying to get.  Her SIL put a kids tent over her nephews potty and he started going in there.

How exciting! My daughter (turned 2 in October) will poop on the potty all day long but doesn't like to pee on it. Crazy kid.
