Hmm....not sure if you should be or not. I tend to lean to a more wait and see attitude.
How much do you work with her on these things?

she should be saying words & mimicing but everyy child develops differently so just work with her more on words mimicing ect.

Every child devolps at their own pace. :) If it really bothers you, you could talk to her pedi though.

I'd wait until her 18 mo old well check and get the assessment early so you have time to pay attention and fill it out. The dr. may then suggest an early intervention assessment if she is struggling... Do it.
Until then, just play and pay attention and don't panic! She could just be on her on her own time table. Get the assessment and wait until her 18 mo well check.... And breathe. Whether or not an assessment is advised, that doesn't mean anything except she needs an assessment. It may mean she is delayed but she can catch up the faster she gets help.
Good luck, enjoy your daughter, and relax for now

The average is 5 words by 12 months. I do believe she should be mimicking you quite a bit. My honest opinion is that your mommy radar is beeping and you should listen to it and possibly have your pedi refer you for an eval. With a specialist. She absolutely could just be on her own timeline and it'll all come but, again, trust your gut. No one knows your baby like you. You can also Google "developmental milestones" and see what the average 12 month old does and then see where she falls. Its been so long since my kids were that age I just don't remember specifics. Good luck and congrats on the walking!

I would give her until 18 months. My DS (21 months) started saying one or two words, then at 15 mos stopped completely. Wouldn't even babble. He walked and would smile occasionally, but other than that, not much. At 18 months he started babbling again and he had a development check at the begining of Jan and he is at 10-15 words, and he keeps adding more. Some kids are just a bit slower. However, if you are concerned, then talk to the doctor and look into getting him screened. Better safe and a little over reactionary, than do nothing and it be something. But again, I would wait until the 18 month check up before really worrying.

Just coming from someone who has 5 kids, my oldest is 19, my youngest are 20 month old twins ..and I also have an autistic child (possibly 2).....I'd say to not worry about it yet. Children all develop on their own time. 14 months is still very early! Doctors will make you crazy. Go by what you feel in your gut!
