How to teach a 5 year old to shower with no help
At what age did your kids shower with no help, and by this i mean shampoo and wash and dry themselves
I would like to know that answer as well. My son will be 5 in May and I still washes him and washes his hair. The hair washes has been a fight since he was a baby. He doesnt like having the water rush down on his face. He also dresses himself during the day but like your son not after a bath. I dont get it!
My son turned 6 in December and just started asking to do it himself about 6 months ago. He probably doesn't do the greatest job but he's also not super dirty right now. During the summer when he's lathered in sunscreen and sweat, I'll probably give him a good once over or monitor him more closely to make sure he's getting it all off.
my son is 5 and I have to start his shower/bath and wash his hair. He likes to pretend he can't get out of the bath himself but I make him anyways. lol I'm not sure what the normal age is, but he HATES water in his face so unless me or DH wash his hair it isn't going to get done. I do remember that when I was 5/6 I got myself in the bath or shower and did everything without help. though having 4 older brothers my parents probably weren't able to help me as much as I have helped my son. lol
dd is 4 and still takes a bath. she's not interested in the shower so that's fine with me. she's learning now how to wash herself but i help her with her bum and her back; she does the rest. i still wash her hair for her.
when i was a kid, i took a bath until i was closer to 7 or 8. it's not a big deal; evenually he'll learn how to shower but he's only 5. don't sweat it.

My oldest was about 5 years old when she started showering herself. I started doing it in sections when she was younger tho. First I had her wash her own private parts first. When it came to washing her body, I put body wash on a body poof and told her to mimic me with washing her arms and hands. Then when she got used to what I was doing, I tried letting her do it on her own while I watched to make sure she was doing it right. I didn't get her into a shower until she was ready to wash her hair. I started by putting shampoo in her hand, then I did the mimic stuff again, then told her what parts she missed (was usually above her ears.
With my DD2, who is about to be six, I have been pretty laid back with her. She knows how to wash her own body but I usually wash her hair then leave the rest to her. I tried to get her into the shower but after awhile it started scaring her for some reason so we are taking a break. I'll need to get her to wash her own hair soon tho.
