My daughter is 2 and has been going on the potty for a while but is afraid to sit on the toliet without her potty seat. Is there anything I can do so she will use the potty without any special seat?
I'm hoping other moms can help as I'm interested too.
we trained both of our kids on the regular potty to avoid such situations. have you tried having her straddle the seat all the way at the back and then hold the front of the seat? that gives her a lot more stability and aims her down so she doesn't spray.
She bends her body and slides off the toliet. She won't even stay still enough for me to try and put her on.
can you try putting her on, clothed, with the lid DOWN so you can show her what you want her to do? maybe start by holding/hugging her so she can feel you supporting her while she gets comfortable... I had to do this a few times for scary public bathrooms. They were the glorified whole in the ground and they scared the crap out of my daughter so I just held her tight to assure her she was safe.
This works, tho' my kids hated sliding all the way back 'cus they were afraid they'd fall in before they got to the back. We solved that by having them sit on the toilet backward (facing the tank of the toilet).

My DD is the same way. The only way we've been able to convince her to use a toilet without a potty seat has been when we've been on road trips.
Maybe "loose it". We went on a trip while potty training my dd and we accidentally lost the seat. I showed her how to hold herself up and keep her balance. After a week of being scared, crying, protesting, and success she finally was the "Big Girl who could use the pot!" Then again every child is different and she might need some more time to feel comfortable.
