My 2 year old is getting his tonsils out. It's getting close and Idont know what to expect. I can read all day about technicals but all I get otherwise are comments from mom's with older kids who had it. ( of course it went perfect for them) what they don't get is he won't understand anything. Anybody gone through this before? What made your child feel better? Anything helps

At 2 no, but in all honesty, it is hard to explain to a child that young. You can let him know that there is something in his throat that is icky, and the doctor needs to take it out. Let him know that they will give him something that will make him sleepy, and when he wakes up the icky stuff will be gone. Be honest and let him know that his throat will hurt for a few days, but he will eventually start feeling better. Find out what the approved foods will be and let him know that. (usually ice cream and jello)

I agree with this.  Great answer!!  I've never been through this.  Good luck to you and your LO.  (hugs)
