Do your toddlers have chores?

my oldest is 2 1/2 and i was debating on if we should give him some chores or not. Nothing big it would be help make his bed, brush his teeth, pick up his toys, a help mommy with laundry. He does all these thing already but I thought that if we give him a chore list and say if he does all this he get a new hot wheels or money into a piggy bank. Dh thinks he might still be to young, but I think that since he does all these things already most day this will teach him responsibility and to earn things he wants. So do you ladies use chore charts and allowance system with your toddlers. does it work well? do you have a specific system that your kids like?

My dd who is 3 just helps out with everyday chores. She does pick up her toys and puts her plate/cup in the sink. I don't have a specific list for her tho.

1 mom liked this

My DD3 and DS1 have these already.  They clean up their room, take their dishes to the kitchen, help with laundry, pick up toys in the house, and my DD helps me cook at times.  She get money for her money bear and can get something at the dollar store and my son gets little candy treats.  They love it!  My husband and I both agree that it is never too young to start learning.  His son (15) started when he was about 1yo too and now he is quite the entrepreneur.  He always has money and is trying to figure out how modify game controllers and sell them.

My DS is 3 and he is in charge of picking ip his toys, he helps with the garbage (he sees it full and tries to take bag out. While im outside tossing it in big garbage can he is putting a new bag in) he helps put dishes away, he helps switch laundry and helps toss in the new load. He even asks to put the detergent in and start it

My girls are responsible for making their beds, getting dressed and brushing their teeth.  Nothing major at this point.

Yeah.  It is something that her older brother gave to her.  She loves it and it is a great motivator.  We are going to take it with us on our trip to NJ thurday.

Ds is three he helps with the laundry by putting it the basket, dishes by puting the dishwasher soap in and closing the doors and starting it, he also helps put away the grocerys. And he helps pick up his toys and he lines up and matches all of the shoes :) he likes to help and he gets upset if he isn't allowed to help out he even cooks with me.
