Advice Needed: I THINK MY SON HAS SEPARATION ANXITY!

My son has separation anxiety. He has to be under me 24/7. What can I do to help him NOT be so attached to the hip? He start pre- school this august and honestly I'm nerves because I know he is going to throw a fit!! HELP!!!

The best you can do is practice :).  And let him "fail" at it a few times.  Just pay the babysitter extra and let her know of the circumstances :).  If you give her fair warning and extra tip, she'll appreciate it.

And make the initial outings short, only a couple of hours at most.

In fact, you may want to start even smaller.  Have a baby sitter come for a few hours while you are tehre in antoher room doing some work.  But don't allow him to keep coming to you.  But check on him if you feel you need to :)

There is a long time between now and August. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just use the time to start giving him opportunities to be with other people while you are not available. Take short trips to the store, etc. with him staying with someone else.
