Cross eyed 2 year old HELP!

I made an appt for tomorrow, Doc is going to check out my 2 year old. Im just kinda scared to know whats causing him to cross his eyes. Does anyone have any idea? Has this happened to anyone's child?

P.S. He falls down A LOT! I was telling my husband it can be that he cant see to well. That's the only thing that runs through my mind that can be causing him to cross his eyes. Its also on and off, at times hes not, & at times he is.

It's probably affecting his coordination which causes him to fall. Sorry not much help, hope all goes well tomorrow!

strabimis (when one eye goes in and other stays straight)

lazy eye (both eyes go in or go out)

they will try drops and patches to see if changes it

no on knows what causes this for sure, there are speculations but nothing for certain though

if not, then surgery (son has had 5 so far) they will cut muscle in both eyes to get both eyes to work together again.

he probably cannot focus very well thats why he runs into things or falls down

if not corrected when young enough then will lose sight out of that eye. get him taken care of ASAP. they have specialists that will work great with toddlers (patience and tools to help them see whats going on without much aggravation)

im not trying to upset you, just being honest. there are so many parents who just ignore their toddlers eyes and by time go in its to late for dr to do anything.

good luck and keep me posted

My daughter had a similar problem.  It was just one eye, though.  She got glasses, and after a few days her eye righted.  She hasn't had the problem since.

The glasses straightened her eyes in a few days?

My eye crosses due to a birth injury from forceps. Nothing has improved my vision. I hope you can find a cause soon and that it can be corrected.

Well she has to keep wearing the glasses... But yes, her eye was no longer looking at her nose within a week.  She was young enough that even now, when she doesn't have her glasses on her eyes look in the same direction.

When I was a photographer for Sears Portrait I took pictures of a 9 yr old girl, with her glasses on, (the glasses were very thick) her eyes looked straight, but when she took them off they were immediately crossed.  It really depends on what's causing the crossed eyes, and how early you seek treatment.
