Does the toys your child play with need to be for a specific gender?
I was just wondering, does it matter if your child plays with a toy that is for the opposite gender. Like for example, do you let your son play with dolls, or your daughter play with cars or toy soldiers? I have 3 children in my home all the time. The oldest one is a girl 6, boy 4, and girl 2. My six year old daughter likes to play with barbies, pollys, dress up stuff, make-up ect. My 4 y/o son will play with her even with the make up and dress up clothes. They also play together with barbies, pollys. I have went to the lengths of buying boy barbies (Ken dolls) and boy polly's for him so that he can play with her as a boy. I have gotten where I do tell him that playing in make-up is for girls only though. He loves it though. I really don't think at this age I should really be concerned about it. I was just wondering if anyone else has this issues?

I have a three year old son who loves to play with dolls. A five year old neice who loves cars and trucks. I personally don't beleive that kids should have gender specific toys. As long as the kids are having fun who cares? I let my son play with whatever as long as he is safe and not hurting anything.
