4:00-6:00 is a long time, but if they come home from school and take a nap or get some rest I don't think it would be too much.  It really just depends on your kids.  Is it a daily thing or just a few days a week?  I would start slowly, if possible, with a day or two a week to make sure they like what they are doing.  Having activities is great, but you don't want them to have too much to do to the point that they are exhausted all the time and have no down time whatsoever.   Don't forget to give us an update as to what you decide.

I have two kids Carmin 3 1/2 and Keagan 7. We have a membership to the YMCA and I take my kids there to do activities and during the summer we do swim lessons and gymnastics I really like it cause they offer different things at different times. For example when my DD's swim lessons end there's a mini cheer camp that shes going to do there. The activities last any where from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. My kids seem to do better when they have these activities to do. How ever they aren't all week long they are a couple days a week during the school year and during the summer they are all week long.
