I have a son that is eleven years old. He is five foot eight and weighs one hundred sixty five pounds. He has Central Auditory Processing Disorder. Basically his ears don't separate sounds like they should. If he's watching T.V. and I call him he won't hear his name separarte from the T.V.  He has an I.E.P. at school (Individual Educational Program) The teachers aren't following what they are supposed to be doing and I am tired of fighting with my son about school.
When he stresses he gets physical symptoms. We have been through, upset stomach, low grade fevers, throwing up, exima (spelling) so bad his fingers split and bleed, and lots of trips to the E.R. This year it has been internal and external hives. (fun, fun)  I have a day job Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm and Saturdays 8am til noon. I am trying to find something to do at home as I can't afford to quit my  job. My son needs to get out of the main stream school system that doesn't care about him and get into a totally different environment. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated. I am looking either for someone that can home school him who has other children or someone I can switch off with. I do a couple of days a week and they do a couple of days a week. (if possible) He is very smart and when he is interested in something he really excels. He just can't learn to read and write using phonics and that is all the schools teach nowadays.  If his ears don't hear the separate sounds then its not going to work. I am very nervous about this and want to try it over the summer. IF it works, GREAT. if not then we haven't lost him. I am sooo confused right now it isn't funny. Please send me anything that you think might help. Even if you think its not a perfect fit I would like to hear about it anyway. Thanks in advance.
