I am a stay -at -home mom who homeschools my two youngest children. I love being here with my kids, whether we have a nonstop learning day, or decide to have a physical education day-- (i.e.jumping on the trampoline, grooming and riding horses, swimming, etc. )I just love being with my kids, and knowing that they're safe, and not having to go through peer pressure, or favoritism displayed by adults in the public education system. As far as a social life, our family goes to church for that, and I feel that all kids learn in public school is how to be MEAN to other people. All it did for me was to make me wonder why certain teachers who absolutely hated kids got into teaching in the first place, and made me wonder where God is. Are my kids sheltered ? Yes slightly, but in good ways that have enhanced their talents and individual personalities. I have some of the most talented kids in America due to the fact that they are allowed time to practice their music, rather than be bombarded with quantities of homework that would choke a horse--as the saying goes . My daughters' 4 piece,all-girl band has lead worship in churches all over Michigan My 14 and 13 year -olds are musicians also, and are following in their older sisters' footsteps. We get to the important stuff, too! My son loves to make science experiments, read about different types of foods, plantlife, spores, rocks, etc., as well as working math problems and writing in Journals. It's just a well -maintained balance, and it's fun.
