If it is a major holiday, it is a good idea to add between $5 and $10 to your tip. It is the least you can do for the server's having to work a holiday and be away from their family.

And, another reminder. IN all but about 6 states in the USA...servers make $2.13 per hour. If you don't tip, I PROMISE you they don't get a paycheck.   If you have bad service...amd I mean REALLY bad service...please ask for a manager to fix the issue. (And if it is THAT bad...a 10% tip is customary...10% tells the server they sucked). And remember...issues from the kitchen, screaming babies, not getting the boothtable you wanted, or a wait at the entrance was not your server's fault, so don't take it out on their tip. The tip is for their SERVICE, not for what the cooks/hostess do for you. The resteraunt pays them (cooks/hostess) an actual wage for their job, but the customer pays ther server's wages.  And in 90% of large chain resteraunts, the servers have to "tip out" other employees (bar/food runner/bussers) out of what YOU leave them. SO...just know if you don't tip it all...that means the server is now PAYING YOU to eat in their station. And don't think "If the server doesn't like it they shouldn't be a server." If that were so, you would never be waited on again, because resteraunts would close. And also, don't think "The resteraunt should pay ther servers better." Cause if they did, your $10 meal would now cost you about $16 instead...so you'd still be paying for the server...really...trust me...prices WOULD go up up up!

Just think. If you can't afford to tip. Don't go to a sit down resteraunt. Go to a fast food, please!!!!!!Or just stay home.
