I don't really like to talk about myself but, I love to write and often find myself going on for quite a while when I get started so here goes.
I am married to the same man for 28 years. He is wonderful, intelligent and has an odd sense of humor. He is always looking for a new challenge so we have moved around a bit. I have lived in Dallas, Texas; Austin, Texas; Dallas a second time; Tallahassee, Florida; Jacksonville Florida; Virginia; and now Alabama. I think we still have one or two more moves in us even though my plan was for this to be our last stop.
I am an older (51 years) mother of two children. I have a preteen boy and a 15 year old girl. My kids are wonderful, beautiful, creative, intelligent, enthusiastic, and loving. On the other hand, and just to give equal time to the reality, sometimes my wonderful kids are anything but wonderful.
I started homeschooling my daughter this year because our attempt at finding a suitable school here didn't work out. Homeschooling has been a challenge but the two of us have grown closer together through it. She is incredibly intelligent although she doesn't think so and fights it every day. I think this is a common thread among 15 year old girls.
My son is in a small private school where he is quite happy and making straight A's with a "perfect" report card all year. He definately is his father's son. Although we have moved around my husband doesn't actually like change. Odd isn't it? Once he is established somewhere he likes his little day to go "just so" and no one is to mess with it. My son is the same way. He would stay somewhere and be miserable before he would ever consider changing it because he likes to just go along and get along. He likes his plans.
I on the other hand, am sort of a "by the seat of your pants kind of girl." Sometimes that gets me in trouble because I am not a good planner and often I forget to be where I need to be. On the other hand, change doesn't ruffle me. I AM A DUCK!
