What Does my child do to result in a time out?

Hi! I'm Tara.  I'm a 33yr old first time mom of a 4yr old autistic daughter and married to my husband Nick for almost 5 years.  I hope to have more children but fear the autism is genetic since I too have an ASD.  At any rate, I spend my days with Emma and work part time at night to suppliment our income. (Nick works days.) Emma and Nick then get some one on one time in the evenings.  Many say we are lucky we can do this but I at times feel it more stressful.  I am trying to learn how to handle Emma and I am at a loss as to where I can find home therapy not only for her but so we can learn as well.  She is so well behaved but I feel she can be very misunderstood by those who aren't aware of her autism in depth.

As for me, in my quiet time I absolutely LOVE to read and watch movies.  I spend a lot of time on the computer when Emma is napping and housework is done and I am the family financial guru!

I am hoping to find a friend or friends who have children close to Emma's age that may have disabilities similar to hers and may know where I could go to get help for us as a family.  A small town is difficult to get help through.

Feel free to email me if you have any advice or just want someone to chat with!

Hi Tara, My name is Terri. I have 4 1/2 year old boy girl twins Colin and Taylor, and a 7 year old son DJ as well. Colin is going through the screening and diagnosis process now but it is fairly clear that he is high functioning Autism or ASD. I just wanted to touch base, I am actually not on here a lot - I work from home and am on the computer often but not as much socially, but I can keep an eye out for emails.
Take Care and Blessings to you and your family
    Terri
