My name is Stephanie. I am a young mom(teen mom if you prefer.) My first son, Kyler, was born August 16, 2007 when I was 17 years old. He was born at 35 weeks(By c-section after 15 hours of labor.) because I had very low fluid because he had a blockage in his urethra. He weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. He was diagnosed with Hydronephrosis(Kidney Disease, Stage 3. His kidneys function at 50%) after he was born. He had made huge progress and his kidney disease is monitored with medication. He is incredibly smart and funny!

Just 8 months after I had Kyler I discovered I was pregnant again. I was 18 and scared. When I was 26 weeks they noticed that my son had a two vessel cord, cardiac echogenic focus, clubbed feet, and Arthrogryposis(“clubbed” hands.) I was told that individually they aren’t really serious but when there are multiple abnormalities it can mean there is a chromosomal abnormality. I was scared the remainder of my pregnancy but my son was monitored frequently so I was optimistic. At 38 weeks 5 days my second son, Kayden, was born by repeat c-section on January 2, 2009 at 10:15. He weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces, 19 inches long. Shortly after his birth I went to a genetic counselor. He was diagnosed with Amyoplasia Congenita Disruptive Sequence, an NON-genetic condition(1 in 10,000 babies are born with it.) He has weekly physical therapy and is making great progress. His clubbed feet were treated at Shriners Children’s Hospital but will still need a lot of work. He is a very curious and serious little baby.
