I'm a new mom and wishing I could stay at home full-time with my daughter.  I have to return to working at ASU West library part-time in June.  I am a full-time student during the regular school year, but will be graduating in December with a BA in English and a minor in Women's Studies.  We are cloth diapering as much as possible, breastfeeding exclusively, and we're a vegetarian family.  I gave birth to Maddy at Bethany Birth Center after only 4 1/2 hours of labor in a tub filled with warm water.  No drugs, no pain killers... only my partner Ishmael counting to 45 as I breathed through fast and heavy contractions.  It was by far the most amazing experience of my life!  I am very excited to be a mother! 

 I love learning new things... which means life is like one long class for me.  I study up on everything, doing research either while I'm working at the library or online when I'm home.  I plan to move to Washington next summer where I will be working on my MA in Library Science.  Life is full of choices, and though there is not always a "right" choice, I do believe there is always a BEST choice for a particular person.  It is all about finding what works for you. 

My partner Ishmael is my best friend, confidant, and other half.  We are a bit attached... in the year and a half we have been together we have only spent 2 nights away from each other.  He is a wonderful father and I am lucky to have him.  He's also a photographer... he took my profile photo... and plans on making that his career once he finishes school. 

I have two cats--Ayeka and Savannah.  Ayeka has one eye and is an incredibly loving and social cat.  Savannah is a big black cat and a HE despite his name.  They were my children for 4 years before Madilyn was born so it has been a bit of an adjustment.  I am a writer... mostly of prose but I do try my hand at poetry every now and again.
