I always wanted to be a missionary, but my parents said, “We aren’t going to support you for the rest of your life.” So, off to college I went where I worked at the international dorm dining hall. Every lunch and dinner we served white rice and wild rice, because that is what the foreign students liked to eat. They would come by the line and say what sounded to me like, “Why rice.” I would politely say back, “White rice or wild rice?” Again they responded, “Why rice.” Out of my frustration I would just ask them to point to what they wanted! Hmmm……maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t become a missionary after all! LOL!
Then, I joined the Navy to see the world and 12 years later I haven’t made it out of California!
I got my Masters, got commissioned, got married, and had 3 kids in 3 1/2 years! I shudder at the thought that some day I will have a Senior, Junior and Freshman all in high school at the same time! Yikes!
I'm a Reserve Officer right now, decided to stay home the kids for awhile, but recently got a job so my husband can finish his nursing degree. I plan to eventually go back to Active Duty to finish out my 20 years.
I look forward to meeting other CafeMoms and keeping in touch with friends! See you around the site!
Cheers!
