Ten Things about a reformed chick's life in Maine:
1. We have a dirt driveway that we call a dooryard
2. Our grass is very often past our ankles
3. The garden grows past our heads
4. We let our kids eat off the ground outside because it's cleaner than our floors
5. The spiders in our house are part of the family; they keep the flies from landing in our beer.
6. We use our grill all year long so I don't have to clean the oven.
7. A true Mainer always has the following in their "dooryard": an old car, a wood pile or something covered with a tarp. (we just got rid of the old car!)
8. Don't ask us about the stuff in our cellar (or our attic!)
9. We can find a way to recycle or reuse anything (hence, the stuff in the cellar and the attic!)
10. If you value your life, Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the front door!
