Since 1990, I've been a stepmother to two stepdaughters as well as a mother to my son. Together as a family, we have been through many ups and downs. We've had great moments as well as really trying ones. But each of these moments have brought us valuable lessons where we learned from each other the values of being a family.
My experiences as a stepmother left me wanting to learn more about the dynamics of stepfamilies. Through research, training and personal experience, I've learned how to deal with the good and the bad times and have learned a lot from our shared experiences.
I have a degree from GMU in Psychology of Communication with an emphasis on family relations. I am a certified Stepfamily Foundation Coach since March 2006 and am presently working with couples. I am also trained in Results Coaching System and am pursuing certification with the International Coach Federation.
The reason I coach is that I believe that families are very important to individuals as well as to society. To individuals because it is where we learn many of our core beliefs and values that we then bring to our future families. To society because it influences how people perform at work, school and with others when we feel a strong connection with family. As a mother and stepmother, as well as a grandmother, I've researched and dealt with many issues that surround families and acquired a good sense of what works and what does not.
My strengths as a coach are my understanding of family dynamics, my empathy, my positive attitude, my energetic vision to see you succeed in your life's pursuit and be there by your side to help you achieve it. I look for the big picture and then break it down into smaller pieces in order to make changes more manageable. I have a strong belief in people's capabilities and I am there to support you along the way. I am dedicated and sincere in all that I undertake. Together, we will accomplish your goals.
