Hello All! I am a 33 yeard old mother of twin girls, Madison and Paige. I found Cafemom through another mother at the NICU in Stonybrook. Back in May, I was placed in the hospital on bed rest at my 23rd week due to an incompatent cervix. I stayed in the Antepartum ward of the hospital for 61/2 weeks before giving birth to my beautiful daughters at 28 weeks and a day. As most of you know, going back and forth to the NICU is not what I call fun. There were days that I wouldn't even know how I got there and I believe till this day that someone moved the hospital another 50 feet... My daughters were born at 2 pounds 3 ounces and 2 pounds 6 ounces. They have had everything from PIE to NEC to ROP,APNEA, BRADYS, a collapsed lung, having a Broviack placed in their chest because they were not able to get a good vein. It seemed as though everyday was something else when we walked in and I am not sure how we made it through, it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about what we went through and everything that we saw our girls going through. It is tough when your child is having a needle placed in their head or their nose is bleeding because the CPAP device that they need to have to help them breath is making their nose bleed. Day by day I would just sit and watch them and pray that if only God would heal them and make them strong so that I could take them home, i would never ask for anything else again. You wish that you could just take the pain away from them and take it on yourself so that they do not suffer!
They just came home on the 7th and now they are 40 weeks and a day. They are both such beautiful girls and so strong. Madison was 4 pounds 15 ounces as of Monday Sept 10th and Paige is 5 pounds 14 ounces. They have wonderful personalities and can be so stubborn. Colic has kept me up for the past week or so with Madison but I think that it is getting better. I love being a mom and to all the doctors that told me that it would never happen.... I have two little angels in front of me right now that proves you wrong!!!!!!!!
Yo Yo Yo, We hope you have a WONDERFUL first Christmas with the girls... I hope work is OK, miss ya and hope to see ya eventually!!!
