I'm a mother of two teenagers and a publisher of a Web site for parents who want to help their children succeed in school. The site is called Such A Smart Mom and can be found at http://suchasmartmom.com. It's filled with news and advice for parents with children in grades K-12. It has great downloads to help families plan for college. It also has detailed information on what children should learn during each year of school. These are in a section called "Smart (and free) downloads. I'm a former reporter and editor with The San Diego Union-Tribune. I have been extremely active in my children's schools. I've held volunteers posts from room mom to parent group president. I believe our children and their schools need strong parent involvement.
