It all began when she was a few months old and not doing the things normal babies do at her age like keeping her head up, rolling over on both sides and eating solid foods. When she was born she weighed 4 pounds 1 ounce and was only 2 and half weeks early. She started sleeping through the night at 3 months old and thought wow this is pretty cool and thought this was to early for her. I had a public health mentor that would help me with trying to get her to roll over, keep her head up, eat baby food, and help me with anything else i needed. Her first smile was when she was 1 and a half months old. She discovered her hands at 3 months old and also started to turn her head when she heard noises. She was able to hold toys at 3 and a half months old and raising her head up. She found her toes when she was 4 and a half months old. She was only 13 pounds 2 ounces at 5 months old. She first rolled over at 6 months old and at 5 and a half months old was able to sit up but she had to be propped up. At 7 months old she was able to eat finger food and sit without support and drink from a sippy cup. She got her first tooth at 8 months old and said her first word "dada" at 7 and a half months old and said "mama" on mothers day a couple weeks later. She started creeping on her tummy at 8 and a half months old and crawled on all fours 1 week before she turned 9 months old. She took her first step at 13 months old and didnt officially walk til she was 17 and a half months old. Before that she would climb up to stand and hold onto things. We noticed something wasnt right when she was 1 and half years old- she started to flap her arms and hand up and down real fast and say "aah aah aah" while doing it. The doctor said it was a habit and that she would grow out of it and later on we asked again because she just kept on doing it and then he said it was self-stimulation and that she would grow out of it, but right now she is almost 6 years old and still does it. We finally got tired of hearing the excuses and he referred us to a neurologist and he didnt know why she did it and didnt know much about aspergers so he referred us to a child developmentalist and had a couple sessions with him and he said she had aspergers and pdd-nos. She was finally diagnosed with it when she 4. We were so happy we could finally put a name to it. Also when she was 2 years old she would say things like "comfortable" "delectable" "delicious" and knew what they meant. It took me 2 years to potty train her so she was potty trained 1 month before she turned 4 years old. She has a VERY good memory and remembers things that happened a year ago. She does have some behavior problems like normal but it used to be really bad like kicking, hitting, spitting, biting herself and other people, yelling, screaming and not listening. She went to special ed classes last year and for half a year she went to head start. She just learned how to write her name last year. She is VERY sensitive and always takes things seriously like me. She can memorize things really fast. She is starting kindergarten a year late because of 2 reasons- 1. She didnt know that much and needed help and 2. because her birthday fell 2 weeks after school started. She loves being independent like riding the bus. She can stay up all night if we would let her. But she goes to bed at 8 but doesnt fall asleep til around 10 or 11 and wakes up at 4 in the morning. She takes naps everyday but it takes a while like an hour or so to fall asleep and there will be days where she wont fall asleep at all. She has a VERY big imagination. She loves swimming, playing in her kitchen, playing with her baby and playing with the pets. She is a VERY hyper little girl and is always on the move and wont slow down. She is always excited about something whether she gets to watch tv or go to her nana's house.
