I am mom to two amazing kids (don't we all think that about our own, tho?) Keith is about to be 13, he is a Virgo. He's my responsible little man. He's very "by the book." I can count on him to do what needs to be done without asking. Whitney is about to be 11, and she is a Cancer. She is my lovey-baby. She is creative and funny and generous to a fault!
I grew up in Alabama, but have lived in Virginia and Ohio as an adult. My job transferred me to Houston a couple of years ago... and as fate (aka God) would have it... a guy that I grew up with also lived in Houston. His name is Clint, and we not only went to school together, but also went to the same church. We were always friends, but when we reconnected here in Houston we started dating. And the rest--as they say--is history. We are engaged to be married in August!
Although I had a career in the Property Managment field for over 10 years, it didn't make me happy. It was what I needed to do to support myself and my children as a single mom. Clint has encouraged me to go back and finish college and do what makes me happy. Now, I am attending the University of Houston full-time and have said good-bye to the the crazy world of Property Managment!
I'm definitely a "what you see is what you get" kind of person. I'm the one that people come to when they want a straight answer and not platitudes. Sometimes people don't like that... and I'm ok with that. I can't tolerate drama. I LOVE LOVE LOVE emotional balance and honesty. I surround myself with people who don't add drama. That means that my circle of friends is limited.... but we are a rock for each other. I wouldn't want it any other way.
My life is wonderful and I'm so thankful, even for the little twists and turns in the road. Clint and I were going to try to have a baby once we got married, however, we recently got the news that it will be arriving a little sooner than we expected. Surprise! We aren't telling our families, yet.... and I'm just dying to talk to someone about it! That's why I joined Cafe Mom. I wanted to talk to other moms and/or expecting moms. I'd love to make some friends here in Houston to chat with and maybe hang out with as schedules permit.
They suggested a list of love/hate items for other people to learn about me. So, here goes:
Love: hockey, naps, crocheting, reading, scrapbooking, cooking (I'm a foodie), wine (Pinot Noir is my fav)
Hate: basketball, drama, dishonesty (in all forms), hangovers, irresponsibility
