I was married for 30 years, for 25 of those years we were part of a religious cult which said women were less than men and should be disciplined. My husband took that as meaning abuse. If I tried to leave him, he would bring in one of my pets and kill it in front of me to show me he could do that to me if I tried to leave him. I could not leave the area without informing someone where I was going. I actually had to use my 4H'ers to escape. I ran away when my 3rd son was in college. I met many men online--some were really weird and scary!! One of the men was very nice and I married him. However, we are having problems with his son which is on drugs, and his ex-wife telling him what to do about this son. I don't know if I've gone from one hell to another or not. I have no friends, no family other than my 3 sons who are all in some type of religious work; but have forgotten about the commandment to honor their mother.
