I'm a proud parent of a beautiful and accomplished child, who is 11 years old. I am proudly and bravely unmarried. (Nothing against marriage. I just wouldn't want to marry someone I didn't want to be married to just so I could have my child, nor would I want to be coerced into it, economically or otherwise. I'm happy to be free in that way).

I've had many years of financial struggle and I believe that the #1 cause of that was a lack of acceptance of unwed parenthood. I believe women should have the right to choose single parenthood without punishment of shame, and that they deserve reasonable work conditions and pay. I'm committed to the "Mother's Movement" and seeing real change that respects the rights and dignity of all families. I recently got my master's degree and I just got a great job as a famliy advocate! Things are looking up!

I enjoy traveling and learning about people and places very different from my own. I enjoy reading, thoughtful movies and masterful art of any kind. I love the natural world, trees, deserts, mountains, rivers and oceans. I appreciate wild and domesticated animals, including those of the human species. I am obsessed with learning and love to satisfy curiosity. I appreciate bravery and kindness. I am relieved to be in my 40s. I am troubled by dishonesty, inauthenticity, cruelty, inequity, injustice and dehumanization. I'm glad to say, after many bumps in the road, I still have hope for myself, my family, my country and my planet. If you are single and pregnant, and have chosen that the love for your baby is greater than the fear to go it alone, you are my hero.
